TREE STRATIFICATION BASED ON ERUPTION DAMAGE LEVEL IN MOUNT MERAPI NATIONAL PARK YOGYAKARTA INDONESIA

Mount Merapi’s eruption has caused damage to the forests in Merapi National Park (MMNP). Nine years after eruption, vertical structure of vegetation can illustrate progress succession. This study aimed analyze tree composition and stratification different forest levels 2010 eruption. The was conducted March 2019 at three stations, namely station A (heavy area), B (moderate C (minor area). Vegetation parameters each were taken a 10x100 plot processed using profile diagram. Abiotic measured analyzed correlation test. results showed that stations still dominated by Stratum C, but density height varied proportion level. Station heavy area lowest (23 trees/0.1 ha) with maximum 12 meters, contrast minor reaching 195 ha 30 meters. big MMNP Yogyakarta Province are classified as young secondary forests.
